weary

X,

People never are exactly who or what you think them to be. You could spend a lifetime with someone, but should expect nothing. Assume nothing. No matter how much you think you know, there is always more to learn, things are always changing, and all you can do is have faith, hope, and trust that they are who they say, who they seem to be. It feels as though I’ve lost this ability. I am so wary of investing, so worn out on waiting and hoping — in the end, all things fall flat. And it seems to me that anyone deserves better than being an interlude, an affair, a friend with benefits, a hopeful contender, a beautiful possibility, a diversion, or any of the other myriad of things one might be which is anything less than genuinely cared for and committed to.

An enormous ask, apparently — I no longer care to.

Yours,
