Silence

There is a silence,
burning, in me,
that I have felt
since last we spoke.

A silence
that quells.
A silence that sprouts
from fevered wishes
and grows
in absences.

A silence that breaks
those lost of sleep
and wildly screams
in the darkness.

A silence that rings
with shattering hearts,
that fragments the mind,
and aches for sanity.

A silence
that kills.
