Forward Stop

Backward is a place
that I want to leave behind
in the shifting silence,
braided with loss,
and a longing for release.
Please, my dear,
release me.
Grant me this single
clemency.
For this love has been leech,
absorbing each
ill-fated feeling,
until there’s nothing left
to give or take or beat
for.
And yet although
I try to go
it will not let me.
I am it’s captive,
adverse reactive,
begging for
my liberation,
a sweet cessation,
to the madness
of my heart.
But there is no stop to this start.
I fall apart.
